We are now in the 2026 winter harvest season for broccoli and cauliflower (December to March). Processing plants in Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Shandong, Fujian and other provinces are operating at full capacity to produce IQF frozen broccoli and cauliflower.
The overall planting area of broccoli this year has decreased by about 10% compared with the previous season, while the yield per mu is roughly the same as last season. Since IQF frozen broccoli and cauliflower were in short supply at all processing plants in the 2025 season, with low stock of high-quality products, the overall prices at the start of this season are higher than those of last year.
The raw material prices of broccoli and cauliflower have declined slightly this week. Thanks to less rainfall during the current harvest period, the overall product quality is better than last year. In general, the quality of raw materials before the Spring Festival is superior to that after the festival: the low temperature before the Spring Festival result in tight, compact florets with minimal pest infestation, whereas the rising temperatures after Spring Festival will lead to loose florets and an increased risk of pest damage.
We predict that the price of IQF frozen broccoli might continue to decline after the Spring Festival, but the raw material quality will not match that available before the Spring Festival. For IQF frozen cauliflower, its planting area is inherently smaller than that of broccoli, coupled with strong market demand both domestically and internationally. Thus, its price is unlikely to drop and the supply is expected to remain tight overall.
As the prices of agricultural products are subject to multiple factors such as weather conditions, market demand and raw material quality, with considerable uncertainties involved, we recommend that now is the optimal time to place orders for IQF frozen broccoli and cauliflower – the products are of superior quality and the prices are more favorable than before.
